A scent journey by Artist Devon Baur

STUDENT.
WORK.

A group of six emerging artists and scientists from across the country designed a survey and collected data about the types of memories commonly associated with different household scents. The aim was to create a visual and artistic representation of scientific data points with an interdisciplinary methodology. Ultimately, before designing with scent we must explore the popular cultural associations they each carry with them.

This project is part of Stanford’s STEM-to-SHTEM program, which bridges STEM with the humanities in an internship for high school and community college students.
